Going Grand Getaways emerged from a passion for travel, adventure, hospitality, and entrepreneurship. Inspired by the rise of Airbnb, Caitlin’s journey shifted from traditional hotels to immersing in local cultures through home stays. As Caitlin and Mike, lifelong friends since middle school, combined their love for travel, hosting, and craftsmanship, they decided to invest only in places they cherish spending time in. With support and encouragement from Caitlin’s father Tim, well-versed in real estate, Going Grand Getaways was born. The name reflects their favorite travel destination, Ireland, where “Goin Grand” signifies doing just fine, blending seamlessly with the American notion of Grand, denoting attractiveness and style. Perfect location minutes from amazing hiking areas and also very close to the town of Clayton. Caitlin was readily available and a very responsive host. Kitchen is well equipped and house has a great layout with added space with the large wrap around porch. I would recommend more lamps in the living room as there was not enough light to sit and read a book.

The mountain cabin was very cute. I loved the little Christmas tree with twinkling lights! Kitchen amenities were great! Decor was lovely. I loved the ceiling heaters above the showers. The location was less than 30 minutes to several beautiful hiking areas and wineries. Caitlin was outstanding in answering my questions and extremely nice! She was the best host!

This location is exactly what I wanted – only two cars passed in front of the house over 8 days, and even in a pretty severe drought you could still hear the trickle of the stream when sitting on the porch. There were only three of us and I think having more than four in the home would be a little tight, but for four or less it is a great choice.
